| The Transnet Foundation and pharmaceutical group F Hoffman-La Roche Ltd today unveiled a revamped health clinic aboard the Phelophepa (which, literally translated means good, clean health) Healthcare train, a primary health facility on rails considered one of the world’s great corporate social responsibility initiatives. The Transnet owned train provides primary healthcare services to South Africa’s most remote rural areas, including eye and dental care as well as health education programmes. Read More |

Phelophepa Healthcare train
The Transnet Phelophepa Healthcare train, which is co-sponsored by Roche, will be visiting Kareno near Nelspruit, Mpumalanga from 06 to 10 June 2011. And from 08 August to 12 August 2011, it will be providing services to communities in Swellendam, West Cape. Children's walk
On the 16th June each year, coinciding with the International Day of the African Child, Roche employeesparticipate in a 5km walk at individual sites worldwide. Employees are encouraged to obtain sponsorship for walking and funds raised are matched by the Company. The money is used to help support HIV/ AIDS orphaned children in Malawi and South Africa.
On Wednesday, 15 June 2011, Roche South Africa staff members will walk around the Illovo complex, as part of the global commitment to eradicate poverty and provide much needed support through projects run by Roche's partner organizations- the European Coalition of Positive People (ECPP) and UNICEF Switzerland. The Walk, which is an annual event for many Roche sites globally, will support children in Orange Farm, Johannesburg and in Malawi. Click here for more information.
